The unveiling of the 2014 Corvette Stingray earlier this month created a huge amount of buzz. But are you ready for yet even more? Now the word on the street is that the 2014 Corvette Convertible will be first shown to the public at the Geneva Motor Show in March. That’s right, an American show to make its debut in Europe. Really?
Hopefully I’m not alone in thinking this is really quite strange. I mean this is one of America’s most iconic cars and now GM is going to slap us in the face by going overseas and giving the Swiss a first glimpse at it? Ok, emotions aside, according to Autoweek GM is hoping to increase its export sales of the Corvette since it was designed to compete with the best of the best. Maybe that would help explain why C7 has such a heavily European influenced design. Digging a little deeper, it appears that GM also unveiled the C6 at the 2004 Geneva Expo.
So when will the 2014 Corvette Convertible be available? The Corvette Stingray coupe is planned to be on showroom floors come September 2013. Autoweek expects that the convertible version will be available 3 months after that.
